Mavs manage tie with Bemidji
At this time of year, it's one point at a time. So even though UNO managed only a 1-1 tie with Bemidji State in front of 9,079 Friday night at CenturyLink Center, the fact that it came on a clutch goal from Bryce Aneloski with 3:40 to go in regulation left the Mavericks feeling pretty solid about the result.

Albers' career-high 31 help Mavs defeat Avila
Mitch Albers scored a career-high 31 points as the University of Nebraska at Omaha men's basketball team defeated Avila 83-81 on Thursday. It was the Mavs' second win in as many days as they improved to 9-15. UNO's CJ Carter chipped in 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals, and Caleb Steffensmeier added a career-best 15 points with seven assists and a pair of blocks. Alex Welhouse had 13 points.

Timeouts can't ice Nash in UNO win
Sioux Falls coach Travis Traphagen has seen enough field-goal kickers miss big attempts after a timeout, so he figured it was worth a shot. With his team clinging to only its second lead of the game at 68-67 with 3.1 seconds left, he called timeout before UNO's Jamie Nash went to the line for the first of two free throws.

Massa could be back in goal against Bemidji State
Ryan Massa and Josh Archibald are back and Andrej Sustr is close. As UNO continues to prepare for its weekend WCHA series with Bemidji State, it's possible that Massa could return as the Mavericks' goaltender after suffering a concussion Jan. 20 at Minnesota State-Mankato and sitting out the following game, coach Dean Blais said.

UNO men snap streak, top Bobcats
The UNO men's basketball team made the most of an eight-day layoff by ending a four-game losing streak while Mitch Albers became the school's No. 2 career scoring leader as the Mavericks knocked off NAIA opponent Peru State 106-71 Wednesday in front of 629 at Sapp Fieldhouse. UNO (8-15) last played Jan. 24, an 81-70 loss at home to future Summit League foe Western Illinois.
