The University of Nebraska at Omaha rebounded from a 3-1 loss to Houston Baptist in its Great West Conference tournament opener Sunday, staving off the end of its season with a 4-2 comeback victory against North Dakota in 10 innings.

Big inning lifts Bluejays past Mavs
UNO's long and winding road through the season came to an end. Creighton's season, meanwhile, continues picking up speed in the preferred direction. Creighton scored five runs in the fifth inning and eight pitchers combined to keep UNO scoreless until there were two outs in the ninth in a 6-1 victory Wednesday night before 3,213 fans at TD Ameritrade Park.

UNO seeded second at Great West
The University of Nebraska at Omaha will close its season with the Great West Conference tournament this weekend in Farmers Branch, Texas. It will be the payoff for the long hours of practice and work in the weight room, coach Jeanne Scarpello said.

Mavs eye another upset to end unusual season
When UNO and Creighton last met, it was arguably the high point of the Mavericks’ season. Not only was UNO coming off four wins in six games, it went out March 27 and upset the Bluejays 3-2, followed it up the next night with a 3-1 win at Iowa, and then headed on to face a weaker future Summit League rival in Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne.

UNO promotes Lange to assistant
Brittany Lange, UNO's women's basketball director of operations for the past season, has been promoted to an assistant coach position on Chance Lindley's staff. Lange fills the role formerly held by Elena Lovato, who has left UNO to take the head coaching job at Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College, where she served as interim head coach in 2009-10.
