Nebraska's Miles still has scholarships to give
Just because the spring letter-of-intent period ended eight days ago, don't assume the Nebraska men's basketball staff is done combing the globe for players for the coming season. Tim Miles and his assistants met Wednesday to discuss five new potential recruits. Preliminary research and background checking eliminated three of the five. »

Big Husker rally falls one run short at Big Ten tourney
Had Pat Kelly's game-ending line drive been a couple of inches higher or maybe a few feet wider, Nebraska may not be staring at such a daunting and taxing path to a Big Ten tournament championship. But Kelly hit it right at Michigan State's best... »

Pepin hoping NU qualifies large group for championships

Nebraska track and field coach Gary Pepin isn’t exactly the biggest fan of NCAA Regional meets. “Oh, I’m totally opposed to them,” he said Tuesday. He’d rather the NCAA picked qualifiers for its outdoor championships on the strength of their performances during the season. Only men’s decathletes and women’s heptathletes are selected that way.

Notes: Small crowd is not a bother to Nebraska

There was a boisterous Michigan State fan who began shouting words of encouragement toward the Spartan baseball team from his seat behind home plate late in MSU's 10-9 win over Nebraska. If you were seated in the outfield, you probably would have heard every single word.

With four recruits ranked inside the top 100 nationally and a former NCAA qualifier set to join the program, the Nebraska wrestling team checked in at No. 6 on InterMat's top 25 recruiting classes for 2012. The four nationally ranked wrestlers are No. 17 Tim Dudley (Irmo, S.C.), No. 52 Tim Lambert (Forest Hills Eastern, Mich.), No. 60 Ben Morgan (Forest Lake, Minn.) and No. 96 Shaun'Qae McMurtry (Lockport, Ill.).

Shatel: Williams could be NU’s future

So, is Jamie Williams the succession plan? Sorry. I meant Dr. Jamie Williams. It’s still too early to say. Harvey Perlman said he is going to conduct a national search for an athletic director when Tom Osborne resigns. (Nobody’s trying to push Osborne out, but this topic is of interest to Nebraska fans).

    Huskers ‘perfect' match for lineman

All John Garrison could do was ask. The Nebraska assistant offensive line coach made contact with 6-foot-5, 290-pound Dan Samuelson last week, letting the three-star lineman from Plymouth, Ind., know the Huskers were very interested in him, even though Samuelson committed to Pittsburgh in April.

Nebraska junior Richard Stock doesn't know the exact structure of the double elimination Big Ten tournament bracket because, at this point, he said it's irrelevant. Stay focused. One game at a time. Don't look past the first opponent. The sports clichés that echo with drone-like repetitiveness in press conferences actually have true application for the No. 4 seed Huskers this week.

9 of the 12 Big Ten teams have at least one 1st-Team selection on my Preseason All-Big 10 Team. 2x defending champ Wisconsin leads the way with seven 1st-team selections while Michigan St, Nebraska and Ohio St each have four 1st-Team players. The Spartans actually lead the way with an overall 16 players followed by Ohio St who has 15.
