What to watch: “Shrek Forever After”

“Shrek Forever After” 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., FX (2010)

The fourth installment of this animated franchise finds the ogre (voice of Mike Myers) in a bit of a mid-life crisis. Rumpelstiltskin tricks Shrek into allowing himself to be erased from existence and cast in a dark alternate timeline where Rumpel rules supreme.

“Cheaper by the Dozen” 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., TCM (1950)

Clifton Webb and Myrna Loy star in this family comedy based on the real Gilbreth family and their 12 children. Frank Gilbreth Sr. was a pioneer in the field of motion study and often used his family in his research, with sometimes amusing results.

“Nova” 7 p.m., PBS (New)

Examining Hurricane Sandy, its impact and the future of storm protection. Includes first-person accounts from survivors and remarks from experts.

“Meet the Parents” 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., Bravo (2000)

Ben Stiller stars as male nurse Greg Focker who meets his girlfriend’s parents before proposing, but her suspicious father (Robert De Niro) is every boyfriend’s worst nightmare.

“Sweet Genius” 9 p.m., Food Network (New)

You might want to wait until your Thanksgiving feast has settled in your stomach before watching this episode. A curdled dairy product must be used in the chefs’ candy recipes that are inspired by a squeaky bird.
