NORTH PLATTE — Police arrested a 15-year-old youth for second-degree assault after he branded another teenager during a welding class.
According to Lt. Rich Hoaglund of the North Platte Police Department, the incident occurred Tuesday at North Platte High School. He said the student took a hot welding rod and touched it to the neck of another 15-year-old.
Hoaglund said the victim received treatment for his injuries. The student who did the burning was processed and released at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and Detention Center on Wednesday.
He is scheduled to appear in county court Feb. 29.
