The man behind the wheel in a fatal crash on Interstate 680 has several traffic and other misdemeanor convictions, according to court records.
Tyler J. Robar of Omaha was driving Tuesday night when his pickup truck struck an embankment, went airborne and came to rest overturned on a ramp leading from Interstate 680 near Pacific Street, police said.
His passenger, Charles M. Brown, 20, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Robar, 23, was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center with a head injury and released Wednesday.
Police say they found beer cans in the truck. Investigators also believe speed was a factor in the accident.
Robar was convicted of driving under the influence in 2008 and driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and marijuana possession, all in 2010, according to Douglas County Court records. — Sam Womack
