WICHITA, Kan. — The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association named Creighton's Kurt Spomer to its initial watch list for the eighth annual stopper of the year award, given to the top relief pitcher in Division I.
Spomer, one of 45 players on the list, led the Missouri Valley Conference with 13 saves a season ago and was a second team All-Valley pick in 2011.
Spomer made 35 appearances last season. In his 4823 innings, the senior finished with a 2.22 ERA.
