"The Ducks Unlimited Story'' tells the history of the organization during its 75th anniversary.
The book offers a unique look at DU from its founding in 1937 and a peek at the future. It includes never-before-seen photos and documents extracted from DU archives.
Author Michael Furtman said DU members didn't want to read about executives and budgets, but about the resources — the birds and the land — and the vision of the founders that started the organization during the Great Depression.
"So that's what I gave them,'' Furtman said. "This book isn't about specific people within DU. Every single supporter defines Ducks Unlimited, and this book is for them.''
The book chronicles the first conservation work in Canada to rescuing the Duck Factory on the prairies.
The book highlights DU's volunteers by telling the story of the organization's event system, the first-ever dinner-based fundraising concept in the conservation arena. Featured in the back of the book are galleries of DU artists of the year and guns of the year.
