See's Candies recall issued

See's Candies Inc. of San Francisco, a division of Omaha-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc., is recalling 3,600 boxes of 8-ounce almond clusters, including some sent to Nebraska retailers, because they may contain peanuts which could trigger "serious or life-threatening" reactions if eaten by people allergic to peanuts.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued an allergy alert Thursday for the candies, which are labeled "See's Candies Almond Clusters, 8 oz." and carry the code SF 088/12 on the back of the box. Other boxes are not included in the recall.

The agency said boxes had been sent to See's stores and licensed outlets in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana. — Steve Jordon
