Fremont’s John Sajevic never trailed Monday in winning his first-round match at the U.S. Senior Amateur. Sajevic was 1 over in the 13 holes required to defeat Paul Murphy of Arlington, Mass., 6 and 5 at Kinloch Golf Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va. His next match is Tuesday against David Anthony of Jacksonville, Fla.
Susan Marchese of Omaha, making her debut in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, won the first hole of her match against sixth-seeded Pat Brogden but lost the next three holes and fell 5 and 4 in the first round of match play at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn.
