Jennifer Robin

California stylist weighs in

Jennifer Robin’s fall trends
Colors: Neutrals, brown, bold and bright, grey and spice.

Shapes: Wider, longer, fuller structure and patterns.

Looks: Colored jeans, menswear-inspired pantsuits, modern romance, tough girl chic and Boho.

We asked San Francisco Bay area image consultant Jennifer Robin to weigh in on Omaha Fashion Week and discuss fall fashion trends. Robin, owner of Clothe Your Spirit, firmly believes that every woman, with the right guidance and attitude, can become more beautiful.

She recently wrote “Growing More Beautiful: An Artful Approach to Personal Style,” a guide to wardrobe strategies that inspire women to think about beauty as creative self-expression.

Robin, a stylist for 25 years, has noticed that “everyone is afraid of the makeover police.”
“If they try to do something different,” she said, people worry that “they might do it wrong. So it sends everyone into a frump rut.”

Too-busy soccer moms, older women and working women get discouraged to look in the mirror.

When that happens, they get a bad case of “frumpdom,” she said. Her book helps people find their inner artist and gets them to work on personal style.

As far as Omaha Fashion Week, Robin glanced at the World-Herald's coverage and OmahaFashionWeek.com to read about our local designers.

“I had no idea Omaha had such talented designers,” she said. “It's incredible.”

Our city's designers are taking fashion into their own hands, and Robin commends them.

Someone in Omaha (Jennie Mason, in her Radioactive Heart collection shown in last year's Fashion Week) decided to put all the guys in lime green accents, she said. And it worked.

“Omaha has the only Fashion Week in the Midwest,” she said. “It really looks like a fantastic event.”

Robin hopes to attend next year.

“I want everyone to love fashion, to go out and try new things,” she said.
